How to Play (ENERGY & CHARA PHASE + SPARK!)

Setting up » Stand & Draw Phases » Energy & Chara Phases + SPARK » Ability Phase

So you drew a card on your Draw Phase. Wasn't that simple?

And now it is time for…

(3) ENERGY PHASE:

You may choose up to 1 card from your Hand and place it in your Energy yard, face-down.

At any time, you nor your opponent are allowed to look at the cards set as Energy. Unless an ability allows you to do so.

This becomes a double-edged sword, such as seen with cards like BLR/005 Pollu - Youngest Member.
You will not be able to know what cards have been placed straight from your Deck to Energy.

This phase ends immediately after you placed your permitted 1 energy, or chooses not to do so.

(4) CHARA PHASE:

Also known as the "Character Phase". It is time to rearrange your character cards in your field!

Your field has 3 Bench slots. As long as there is an empty space/slot in your Bench, you can move your Ring card down to your Bench.

Let's focus on what is happening in our SEGA vs Love Comedy match. On the SEGA side, we have SG/T13 Welkin Gunther - Unlikely Militia Squad Commander in the Ring.

To move him from Ring to Bench, we need to tap the number of Energy from "Stand" to "Rest" that is equal to his Level.
SG/T13 Welkin Gunther is a Level 1 character, which means the player must set 1 Energy to rest.

Tap the amount of Energy that is equal to "x" level of that character.

It doesn't matter which Bench slot he is moved to, as long as it is vacant.

Now, the Ring is empty! The rule is that the Ring cannot be left vacant at any given point of time, so you will need to rectify this immediately.

Take the top card of your Deck pile and place it face-up in your Ring.

You can repeat the Ring-to-Bench process as many times, as long as there is still an empty slot on your Bench, and you have enough Energy left to "Rest".

What happens if all 3 of your Bench slots are filled? If so, you can choose to play cards from your Hand onto your Bench. Similarly, tap the required Energy that is equal to the character's level you want to play.
Applying this same concept, you can also replace your Ring card with something from your Hand. The cards that have been replaced will be moved to the Waiting Room (discard pile).

(4.1) SPARK ICON:

Back to the demonstration match. The new card in the SEGA ring is SG/T14 Alicia Melchiott - Squad 7's Heroine.

Notice the Yellow Lightning bolt icon in the card's ability? Behold, that is the fearsome SPARK!

Whenever a card with a SPARK icon is placed into the Ring directly from the Deck, you must unleash its ability effect.

A spark is usually associated with an Auto ability. So its effect is automatically activated when you trigger it from your Deck to Ring. For your knowledge, this is SG/T14 Alicia Melchiott's ability:

[Spark] [Auto] If there is any card with empty ability in your Retire yard, until the end of your turn, this card's next attack will be treated as a Partner Attack.

An empty ability refers to any character with ability that contains no effect text; SG/T13 Welkin Gunther is one of such example. However, your Retire yard contains no cards whatsoever, so SG/T14 Alicia Melchiott's ability will not work.

[Onwards, to Ability Phase!]
